Regular City Council Minutes — 6102103 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 25 <br />the HRA could look at the property and assist Mr. Guptil <br />in finding a development option; and if two {2} additional <br />weeks were necessary for Mr. Guptil to accomplish code <br />compliance, staff was willing to work within that time <br />frame. <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn soughs Council comment regarding <br />his recommendation to forward this property to the HRA <br />for their assistance to Mr. Guptil in his redevelopment <br />efforts. <br />Councilmember Maschka suggested that Mr. Guptil <br />might contact the Fire Department as an option for a <br />controlled burn of the existing structures, allowing him to <br />clear the land and facilitate future maintenance of the <br />property. <br />Councilmember Klausing concurred with the Mayor's <br />recommendation to refer the matter to the HRA; and <br />deferred to staff as to their preference in whether or not to <br />issue a citation or allow additional time for Mr. Guptil to <br />comply with cods. <br />Mr. Welsch advised that he had not received comment <br />from Mr. Guptil until that afternoon, and he was willing <br />to allow an additional two (2) weeks, but if at that time <br />there remained any code compliance issues, he would <br />return to the City Council for their direction to proceed <br />with a citation. <br />Schroeder moved a simple modification to the original <br />motion, amending it to state that the requested action <br />would be implemented in two (2) weeks if code <br />compliance was not completed. <br />Mayor Kysylyczyn spoke against the amendment to the <br />motion, opining that the crinunal court process didn't <br />solve the issue of the property improvements sought by <br />the City. <br />Councilmember Maschka concurred with Mayor <br />
