REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
DATE: 06/16/03
ITEM: III. B.
egartrr e t Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section:
-MOO&W Presentations
Item Description: Potential City Council Chamber Renovations options
Background: The architects are working on the renovation details for existing City Hall. We
have had considerable discussion about the council chambers and level of renovation necessary
to accommodate mandatory ADA requirement changes, as well as aesthetic and lighting
improvements.
The architects have arrived at alternatives for the council chamber renovations. The first option
would accommodate the ADA requirements and upgrade the lighting and finishes. The alternate
plan would accomplish the changes included in the first plan through a rebuild of the dais and
chamber layout, which would better accommodate audio visual presentation to the Council and
the public.
Attached is a detail of the scope for work included in the two alternatives and layout drawings of
the two proposals. The architects will be on hand to discuss the detail for the proposals, and we
will have cost information available at the meeting. An elevation drawing is also attached
depicting the new dais.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
Motion indicating level of renovation and layout desire for the council chambers.
Prepared By: Duane Schwartz
