1+
C,A
Preserve Our Democracy J
Be a voter!!
Citizen's View of the Roseville
City Primary
'Reasons for Preserving the Roseville Primary:
Avoids having effected officials with little public support (Could be as lit-
tle as 10% of the vote).
e'„ Roseville City Council should not deny citizens of Roseville their lawful
right to vote in our election process while we are risking our citizens so
that Iraqi citizens may have the right to vote.
Voters would not be able to select knowledgeably with a crowded field in
the general election_ Allows the people to narrow their choices demo-
cratically.
;- With even -year elections, candidates will have considerable competition
to gain recognition vs the national, state and county candidates.
r4 Will not save any significant funds since a primary is required in even-
years as well. (Current cost is $0.76 per capita)
Primary elections were created to prevent graft and corruption by having
the citizens select the candidates rather than parties in smoke- fil.Ied back 'I
rooms.
