However now that the city elections coincide with the state and
nati opal, I assuMe the primary would be held during the state and /or national primary, the
savings zero.
1
The pro for holding primary elections is 111LICll more important. laving a primary election to narrow the
field WOUld insure that the individuals elected would be elected by a reasonable percentage of the
vote. With no primary, the number of candidates (could be more than 10) on the ballet could result ill
persons being elected by less than 10% of the vote.
An election with no primary gives unfair advantage to the Incumbent. Most people who are uninfon-ned
on elections tend to Grote for the incumbent. Given that the elections are lield at the same time as state
{told national 31 it is not unreasonable to believe that infonnation on the city election will et overlooked.
FI -lie other elections (state and national Y g are more Publicized and many believe that the issues on those
levels are of greater importance.
If there is a vote taken are thUrsday, I vote to keep the primary election.
Tht -'role YOU,
Mary Alexander
TOP MORE SPAM with tlic nc%v._MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE'
2/25/2003
