REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 03/1 7103
Item No.: X1. I.
Department Approval: Manager Approval: Agenda Section:
Consent
Item Description: Proposed Amendment to city of Roseville code: ordinance Amending
Title Three, Section 302.15 L=iquor control; civil Penalty
BACKGROUND
Council directed the Roseville Police Department and Roseville City Attorney to re- address the
duration of the time frame over which criminal penalties would accumulate. Current Code
provides that penalties for violation of alcohol compliance checks accumulate over a twelve (12)
month period. This time frame has been deemed "too soft" by Roseville Police and the City
Attorney therefore the recommendation is that the time period over which penalties can
accumulate be charged from twelve (12) months to thirty -six (36) months
PROPOSED ACTION
The time period over which penalties can accumulate be changed from twelve (1 2) month's to
thirty -sac (36) months.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
No financial implications to the City of Roseville.
Fines would accumulate over a 36 month period for businesses violating alcohol compliance
checks.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Change the time period over which penalties can accumulate from twelve (12) months to thirty -six
(36) months. The changing of the wording has no impact on grant monies received from the state
of Minnesota.
COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED
Hold first reading of an ordinance Amending Title Three, Section 302.15 Liquor Control, changing
the time period over which penalties can accumulate from twelve (1 2) months to thirty -six (36 )
months.
