Ix"EQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 2/14/11 <br />Item No.: 7. m <br />Department Approval City ManagerApproval <br />Item Description: Approve No parking resolution- Dale Street between County Road C to S. <br />Owasso Blvd <br />11 BACKGROUND <br />2 The City is reconstructing Dale Street between County Road C to S. Owasso Boulevard, which is part of <br />3 the City's Municipal State Aid (MSA) system. <br />4, <br />5 State Aid standards do not allow parking on both sides of 2 lane roads narrower than 38 feet. Dale <br />6 Street will be reconstructed to 35 feet wide from County Road C to Owasso Hills Drive. Parking will be <br />"7 permitted on the west side and "no parking" signs will be posted on the east side of the street. The street <br />8 will be narrowed to 30 feet wide between Owasso Hills Drive and S. Owasso Boulevard, as a result <br />9 parking will be restricted on both sides in this segment. The proposed parking restrictions have been <br />110 discussed with residents throughout the project development. <br />11 <br />12 The State requires a Council resolution prohibiting parking where street width does not meet State Aid <br />13 standards for parking on both sides. <br />14, POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />15 In order to utilize available MSA funds, the City must post parking in accordance with adopted State <br />116 Aid standards. <br />1 7 STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />11 111",,'11 Approve the attached resolution prohibiting parking on the east side of Dale Street between County <br />119 Road C and Owasso Hills Drive, and on both sides of Dale Street between Owasso Hills Drive and S. <br />20 Owasso Boulevard. <br />2 „i REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />22 Approve the attached resolution prohibiting parking on the south side of Dale Street between County <br />23 Road C and Owasso Hills Drive, and on both sides of Dale Street between Owasso Hills Drive and S. <br />24, Owasso Boulevard. <br />Prepared by: Debra Bloom, City Engineer; <br />Attachments: Resolution <br />Page I of I <br />
