Roseville Parks and Re(:re ation Survey
.................
C"Ity of Dublin, California Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment
The City of Dublin hired NRC in 2007 to conduct a multi-component needs assessment to
determine the quality of parks, recreation and community services provided by the City. In
addition, the goal of the needs assessment was to reveal resident recreation preferences and the
development of new facilities. The needs assessment included key informant interviews, a mailed
survey of 3,000 residents, focus groups, an online forum and a town hall meeting. NRC provided
component reports throughout the process and a final composite report. The general sentiment
among all constituents represented in the needs assessment was that Dublin's current festivals and
events were enjoyable, family-friendly and made an important contribution to the overall feeling of
community in Dublin. Also, many of those interviewed and surveyed expressed a desire for
additional facilities—whether to meet their own needs, to fulfill their neighborhood's needs or to
provide new types of programming, such as community theater.
Project manager: Shannon Hayden, MA
Contact: Paul McCreary, Parks & Community Services Manager
City of Dublin
100 Civic Plaza
Dublin, CA 94568
925-833-6645
Walnut Creek, California Older Adult Recreation and Social Services Needs Assessment
The Walnut Creek Older Adult Recreation and Social Services Needs Assessment examined the
current status of the older adult population, to consider current conditions for the health and
welfare of older adults and to recommend how best to prepare for the cultural and recreation needs
of Walnut Creek's older adults in the next 20 years. The study had the following objectives:
document the current and future demographic composition of older adults in Walnut Creek
(generally defined as persons 60 years of age and older), describe the strengths of Walnut Creek's
older adult population, understand older adults' current service use and needs in Walnut Creek,
project the future needs of older adults, analyze current facilities and recreation programming and
provide recommendations for services to accommodate the growing needs of older adults in the
Walnut Creek community.
Project manager: Tom Miller, Ph.D.
Contact: Renee Zeimer, Special Projects Manager,
Arts, Recreation, Community Services of Walnut Creek
City of Walnut Creek
PO Box 8039
1616 N Main Street
Walnut Creek, CA 94596
925-943-5899 x503
Page 21.
