Roseville Parks and Re(:reation
Colty of Maple a Minnesota Res"Ident Survey 2008
A telephone survey instrument was created in an iterative process between the Citizen Advisory
Council (CAC), City staff and NRC staff that included in-person meetings and Web surveys to
efficiently prioritize preferences of survey questions and response options. The 2008 Citizen Survey
allowed residents to rate the quality of life in the City of Maple Grove, as well as the service
delivery and overall workings of local government. Residents also shared their priorities for
community planning and resource allocation. A total of 401 telephone interviews were completed
with a random selection of resident households. The response rate was 35%. Survey results were
weighted so that respondent age, gender and housing tenure (rent or own) were represented in
proportions reflective of the entire city. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.9 percentage
points around any given percentage point reported for the entire sample. Because Maple Grove had
administered a resident survey before, some comparisons could be made between 2008 responses
and those from 2001. Maple Grove also elected to have its results compared to those of other
jurisdictions around the nation, using NRC's national benchmark database.
Project manager: Rachel Cooper, MS
Contact: Mike Opatz, Transit Administrator
City of Maple Grove
12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway
Maple Grove, MN
763-494-6005
moDatz(d),ci.maple- ve®mn.us
Page 23
