3) Make continued, effective use of the Park Dedication Ordinance.
Requested Commission Action: To discuss and make a recommendation to accept
land or cash in lieu of land dedication to satisfy the Park Dedication requirements.
b. Josephine Woods
Included in your packet is information on a recently approved preliminary plat of 28
single family homes at the corner of Lexington Avenue and Josephine Road referred to
as Josephine Woods. Park Dedication does apply.
At times it appears obvious that the Park Dedication requirement should be cash in lieu
of land in order to contribute to Park and Recreation System improvements. However,
this may not always be the case. In the case of Josephine Woods, there may be other
creative ideas that come up through a Parks and Recreation Commission review. The
process and timing of review is important.
We have had preliminary discussions with Community Development staff on ways to
improve the process from the time a developer inquires to the time of a final plat
approval and how Park Dedication can be more of forethought to ensure a better
Development and better City.
Staff and Chair Etten will be prepared to brief the Commission on this item.
Requested Commission Action: To discuss and make a formal recommendation to
accept land or cash in lieu of land dedication to satisfy the Park Dedication
requirements.
5. Master Plan Implementation Discussion
This is continued discussion about the "path to implementation' .
Commission Representatives and staff will plan to review any progress to date. This is a time to
gather further guidance/direction from the entire commission.
Enclosed is the final survey that will be distributed to the community within two weeks.
Requested Commission Action: Discuss progress on the implementation process and gather
further guidance. Briefly discuss City satisfaction survey that was completed.
6. Directors Report
Ge en Project
will be providing an update to you on the Geyen Project at Bruce Russell Park and would
appreciate your input and suggestions. Initially, the project was planned to be a bench and
drinking fountain near the playground. As the family has thought further and others have offered
assistance, the project has expanded a bit. Enclosed is some preliminary information from Hagen,
Christensen and McIlwain Architects who have worked with the family on options. Staff will be
prepared to brief you on the details at the meeting.
Requested Commission Action: Discuss and provide comments and confirm continuance of
previous recommendation of project.
City Satisfaction Survey
The executive summary of the recent city satisfaction survey is in your packet for your review.
Detailed results and a presentation can be found on the City website.
7. Other
8. Adjournment
