Street tree inventory 100 % complete —being downloaded <br /> 10 into recently purchases grant funded software program <br /> 11 (Davey Tree Keeper) with reporting ability. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 ii. Currently in process of collecting tree inventory data in <br /> 14 parks, golf course, arboretum, city hall, fire stations and all <br /> 15 other city properties. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 i i i. New tree inventory software will allow full analysis of the tree <br /> 18 inventory data. Initially to determine the number of city- <br /> 19 owned ash trees and then how best to manage them. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 B. Identify Management Options <br /> 22 1 . Description: <br /> 23 i. Do nothing. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 ii. Reactive approach: wait until tree is infested with EAB <br /> 26 before removing. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 iii. Proactive approach #1 : systematically remove trees prior to <br /> 29 them being infested with the thought that if done prior to the <br /> 30 arrival of EAB it may lesson a budget strain and help slow <br /> 31 the spread to other properties. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 iv. Proactive approach #2: pesticide treatment, injection, basal <br /> 34 drench or spray, determine "significant" trees. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 <br /> 37 v. Replacement of trees: replace trees on a one to one basis. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 2. Progress: <br /> 40 i. The EAB Management Plan will incorporate a combination of <br /> 41 approaches. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 ii. Removal: through the street tree inventory the poorest <br /> 44 condition ash trees will be identified, removing a percentage <br /> 45 of those trees annually. The 2010 grant will allow up to 23 <br /> 46 trees. <br /> 3 <br />
