EAB has not yet been identified in Roseville Proper. It has 10 been identified in the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul 11 within 2 miles of Roseville. 12 ii. The City of Roseville cooperates with the Minnesota 13 Departments of Natural Resources and Department of 14 Agriculture. 15 iii. Numerous traps are set throughout the city. 16 17 I. Budgeting 18 1 . Description: 19 i. EAB is considered a new program for the City and will 20 require resources. 21 ii. Even though EAB has not been identified in Roseville 22 specific, a designated carry over fund will be set up. 23 24 2. Progress: 25 i. Preparedness grant was obtained in 2010 to complete the 26 tree inventory and begin to remove and replace up to 23 27 trees. 28 ii. A new, limited EAB program has been proposed for 2011 to 29 include a $100K budget to begin to treat ash trees of 30 "significance" and remove severely declining ash trees. This 31 fund should be utilized for EAB related expenses and should 32 carry over from year to year should there be any remaining. 33 iii. Proposed 2011 program budget may contribute to injection 34 equipment, product, contractual services, part time staffing if 35 qualifications can be found and removal and replacement of 36 ash trees. 37 iv. Research has been ongoing for the treatment of ash trees. 38 Tree- Age (product) insecticide with the Arbor jet injection 39 method has been identified to be the longest tested and best 40 result to date. 41 v. A determination is being made on the most cost effective 42 method of treatment, specifically whether the treatment 43 would be performed contractually or in- house (either way, 44 additional resources for 2011 are necessary for the new 45 program). 6
