Policing Services (COlPS has announced. that they will be accepting <br />3 grant applications for the Fiscal Year (FY)i 20i I I C01PS Hiring Program (CHP)I. Sub�ject to funding <br />4 availability, approximately $20iOi million may be available under FY 20i I I CHP for the hiring and. rehiring <br />�11'-' of ad.ditional career law enforcement officers. <br />'7 May 25, 20i I I to be considered. for FY 20i I I CHP funding. <br />11 <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />1 (", The retained. CHP -funded. position(s) should. be ad.ded. to the grantee's law enforcement budget with state <br />'19 and/or local funds, over and. above the number of locally-funded. positions that would. have existed. in the <br />20 absence of the grant. The COPS Office looks forward. to working with your agency. <br />21 <br />22 BUDGET IMPLICATIONS <br />23 There is no <br />24 position, but CHP grant funding will be biased. on your agency's current entry-level salary and. benefits <br />25 packages. Any ad.ditional costs for higher than entry-level salaries and. fringe bienefits will be the <br />26 responsibility of the grantee agency. At the conclusion of federal funding,, grantees must retain all sworn <br />27 officer positions awarded. under the CHP grant for a minimum of one year (12 months)l. <br />28 STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />29 The police department is recommending it be allowed to apply for two commercial patrol <br />30 positions through this grant.
