REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval <br />Date: 9/12/11 <br />Item No.: 7 . f <br />City Mana�Fir Approval <br />Item Description: Adopt a Resolution to Accept the Work Completed, Authorize Final <br />Payment of $,29,478.83 and commence the One-Year Warranty Period on <br />the West Snelling Drive Sidewalk Project. <br />11 BACKGROUND <br />2 On July 25, 2011 the City Council awarded the West Snelling Drive Sidewalk Project to 0' <br />3 Malley Construction, of Le Center, Minnesota. This project consisted of the construction of a <br />4, sidewalk connecting County Road B to the sidewalk constructed as a part of the Sienna Green <br />5 Public Improvement Contract. Work completed under the contract totaled $,49,994.62. 0' <br />6 Malley Construction successfully completed the remaining work to be done on the project in <br />"7 August 2011. <br />8 POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />9 City policy requires that the following items be completed to finalize a construction contract: <br />110 9 Certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in <br />11 accordance with plans and specifications. <br />12 9 A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty. <br />13 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />14, The final contract amount, $,49,994.62, is $,2,436.89 less than the awarded amount of $,52,431.5 1. <br />15 This represents a decrease in the contract of 4.6%. The cost decrease is the result of the actual <br />116 quantities being less than the estimated.
