REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 8/22/11 <br />Item No.: 7. g <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Approve Resolution Awarding Bid for the Fairview Pathway Project (alga <br />Northeast Suburban Campus Connector Bike/ Pedestrian Project)- Phase I <br />11 BACKGROUND <br />2 The Fairview Pathway Project (aka Northeast Suburban Campus Connector Bike/ Pedestrian <br />3 Project) consists of a number of segments. This project has been broken out into two separate <br />4, projects. Bids for Phase I were solicited during the month of July and were opened at 10:00 a.m. <br />5 on Friday, July 22, 2011. Three qualified bids were received this project. Phase 2 will follow in <br />6 2012. The University of <br />Phase I <br />to Transitway <br />Minnesota is also proposing to mill and <br />overlay this street. That will be a local cost. <br />9 Phase I of this project also has some locally funded work included. In Roseville, the <br />110 Information Technology Department has been working with the School District on connecting <br />11 Brimhall Elementary School and the Fairview Community Center with fiber conduit. Since this <br />12 was to be routed in the Fairview pathway corridor, we included this work with this project bid. <br />13 At the University of Minnesota Campus, they requested that we perform a bituminous Reclaim <br />14, and Overlay on Gortner Avenue to be completed in conjunction with this project. <br />15 <br />Page I of 3 <br />
