The Fire Department holds an annual appreciation <br />44 banquet for firefighters, spouses, retirees and special guests. The state auditor has recommended <br />5 the discontinuance of city funding of the meals for non-employees. The Fire Department is <br />E,,,, seeking Council approval to solicit the donation of food for the firefighter appreciation banquet. <br />7 POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />8 The following is the City of Roseville's policy regarding the solicitation of donations. To avoid <br />conflict of interest or appearance of impropriety, the solicitation of donations by City staff is not <br />permitted except by: <br />Authorization by the City Council and/or <br />2 Distribution of an annual Roseville Donor Opportunity Program in the February issue of <br />the City Newsletter. <br />�Z The council approves all the donations received. <br />5 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />There would be no financial impact for the city. <br />�7 STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the authorization as per City policy for the requesting of a donation for the <br />firefighter appreciation banquet. <br />20 <br />2 REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />22 Motion to authorize the City Manager or his designee to send letters requesting support for the <br />2 firefighter appreciation banquet. <br />2,4 <br />Prepared by: Richard B.
