Promote increased physical activity and expanded environmental awareness. <br />32 Serve the entire community, fTom young to old alike. <br />33 <br />34 This program is also consistent with the practice of leveraging funds through grant applications. <br />35 FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />36 The 1,000 Benches Program is a cost share opportunity. Ramsey County will contribute $,600 towards the <br />37 total cost of each bench installation. The City of Roseville Parks and Recreation portion of the project cost <br />38 will be taken from the Park Improvement Program (PIP . The total cost of the program for 10 benches is <br />39 $15,288.78 with $9,288.78 being taken from the Park Improvement Program and $,6,000 provided by the <br />Active Living Ramsey County grant. <br />41 STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />42 Staff recommends that the City Council approves the attached resolution and authorizes the submission of <br />43 the grant application for the Active Living Ramsey County 1,000 Bench Program in an effort to encourage <br />44 Roseville residents to walk for fitness,, transportation,, improved community wellness and environmental <br />1 <br />45 impact with the $,9,288.78 cost share taken from the Park Improvement Program (PIP). <br />46 REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />Adopt a resolution authorizing application of Langton Lake Pathway for Health grant to participate in <br />the Ramsey County Active Living 1,000 Bench Program with the necessary matching funds of <br />1 <br />$,9288.78 taken from the Park Improvement Program (PIP). <br />Prepared by: Jill Anfang, Parks and Recreation Assistant Director <br />Attachments: A: 1,000 Benches Application <br />B: PrQject Resolution <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />
