During his 27 year tenure the Roseville Parks and Recreation System
4 grew from one park with a mobile recreation system that operated on school and private property to the
5 award winning, nationally recognized, smoothly integrated Parks and Recreation System that we know
6 today. Mr. Rog's strong ability to bring volunteers, community leaders and city officials together was
"7 extraordinary and significant to the City of Roseville's establishment and growth. He was the catalyst that
8 contributed to make it all happen and he truly made a significant contribution to the City of Roseville.
I ('-) To acknowledge Mr. Rog's significant and exceptional contribution of establishing and nurturing the
"I'll Roseville Parks and Recreation System, it has been recommended unanimously to name the Central Park
12 Amphitheatre the "Frank Rog Amphitheatre" by the following long time Parks and Recreation community
13 groups and contributors.- Roseville Central Park Foundation, Friends of Roseville Parks (FORPARKS) and
14 the Friends of Harriet Alexander Nature Center (FORHANC). Furthermore,, in recognition of this naming,
I the Roseville Central Park Foundation has authorized a significant contribution of $,25,000 to perform
16 facility improvements to the amphitheatre in Mr. Rog's honor.
I 7
18 Attached is the city naming policy, which is consistent with this effort, and a letter of request from the
19 Roseville Central Park Foundation that sums up Mr. Rogs significant and exceptional contribution to the
2 ('-) overall Parks and Recreation system and to the community as a whole. This effort is consistent with the
2 1 naming of other city areas such as the Tom Curly playground, Marie Slawick area of Central Park, the
22 Catherine Weathersten Arbor in Central Park and the Roger Short Maintenance Facility and Shirlie Klaus
23 Pavilion in the Muriel Sahlin Arboretum.
24
25 Mr. Rog's contribution to the establishment of the Park and Recreation System has been enjoyed by past
26 generations and will be forever enjoyed by future generations for years to come. His vision, his enthusiasm,
27 his efforts,, his way of working with people to get them involved and to stay involved was exceptional and
28 contagious. Much of the foundation that he laid contributes to the future and to a system that only gets
29 better because of what Mr- Roa beaan-
3 1 This request is consistent with the goals of Imagine Roseville 2025 in honoring individuals who contribute
32 to the Community.
34 The Parks and Recreation Commission have reviewed the request per policy and have unanimously
Page I of 3
