Curti:
Th i
ank you for nqui , ring about the dates of Passover in 2004, as you schedule a special election for the spring.
There are several holidays throughout the year that require a Sabbath-like observance, including Rosh
Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Passover, and Sukkot,, amon others. On these holidays work and other forms of
9
activity are prohibited. Therefore. Jewish individuals may be absent from school or work in order to worship
and observe the holiday.
Jewish holidays begin at sundown the preceding day and lend at nightfall of the final day of observance. For
can le. the first two days of Passover, April 6 and 7 and the last two days, April 1.2 and 13 require a Sabbath-
like.lobservance. These observances are froin sundown on April 5 until nightfall of April 7 and sundown on
April 11.
until nightfall of April 13. This can. be confusing so I encourage you to give rne a. call if you would like
clarification.
I have enclosed several copies of the J C Five Year Jewish Holiday Calendar for your consideration as you
make your schedule for 2004. When we. have the updated version available,, we will send that to you as -well.
If YOU have any further, questions or concerns 'Please feel free to, use the JCRC as a resource.
