"An election in January or February would guarantee an even lower turnout.." [My concern.; what data is this
statement based upon? Has Roseville — or a comparable community -- ever had a special election in January or
February, and has Ms. Curti reviewed that data in making this statement. If so, it is justified. If not, it is personal
opinion.]
"That [historical process of appointment] has worked for more than 50 years, why should it change now? ? [My
concern: Ms. Culrti has elviery right to an opinion about whether, the appointment process "works". So do the
citizens ofRoseville. Unfortunately, the citizens are not being allowed to submit their views i-n writing for retention
as the, official record, ]
"Some pleoplle have argued that Craig Klausing is appointing his own successor. I would argue differently ... so
the public knew, what they were voting for when they votedl," [Aga.in,, this is Ms. Curti's personal opinion and not
one that reflects the official views of the City. Therefore, I believe that it doesn't belong in the record.]
Please note, and Please feel free to share with Ms. Curti if you deem it appropriate,, that I do not intend in any
manner, to object to her having an opinion on this important topic. I applaud her for such, as I will applaud all
citizens who care enough about the. city and its processes to have a personal viewpoint. I object only to the
,access Ms.. Culrti has taken to express her views in the official city record, a vehicle of publication that is not
available to other citizens and should be used only to record the business of the city.
Thank your for your attention to this matter.
SuI bject: Special Election and Continuation of Primary Elections
Mayor and Coluncil Members,
ll am unable, to attend tonight's public hearing because of other clommitrnents.
I am against spending such a, large, amount of money for a special election. I am totally against holding an election,
special or general, without a primary. We have already been down that road and I am shocked to see such an item in the
budget cut recommiendatillons, I believe, I heard Mr. tough verbally make such a. recommendation, but would like to know
who actually included it in the list of budget cuts. Itos inclusion toy tally ignores the feedback given by Roseville residents
when the mayor and Mr. Schroeder worked to get rid of primary, elections.
