I ask that you, as City Manager, review the Curti memorandurn and determine whether the following statements should
appropriately be inc[uided in the official city records:
"An election in January or February would guarantee an even lower turnout." [My concern: what data is this statement
based) upon? Has Roseville — or a comparable community -,- ever had a special election in January or February, and
has Ms, Curti reviewed that data in making this statement. If so,, it is justified. If not, it is personal opinion.]
"That [historical process of appointment) has worked for more than 50 years, why should it change now?" [My
concern: Ms. Curti has every right to an opinion about whether the appointment process "works". So do the citizens of
Roseville. Unfortunatelyy the citizens are not being allowed to submit their views in writing for retention as the official
record. j
"Some people have argued that Craig Klausing is appointing his own successor. I would argue differently ... so the
public knew what they were voting for when they voted." [Again, this is Ms. Curti's personal opinion and not one that
r,eflects, the official views of the City. Therefore, I believe. that it idoesn't belong in the record.]
Please note, and Please feel free to share with Ms. Curti if you deem it appropriate, that I do not intend in any manner
to object to her having an opinion, on this important topic. I applaud her for such, as I will applaud all citizens who care
enough about the, city and its processes to have a personalll viewpoint. I object only to the access Ms. Curti has taken
to express her views in the officiall city record, a vehicle of publication that is not available to other citizens and should
be used only to record the business of the city.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Tammy'L. They
stated, at the public hearings on the primary issue, that they do not like
high voter turnout because then the "uneducated" people will show, up.
The last 8 years, the council consistently voted for tax 'increases,
but never conducted any detailed review of the budgei (according to Maschka
the last time was 19194). These actions clearly show that money is not an
i,ssue.,,
KE
