Department Approval WA WPWA Rls�kspvlffi� REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 5119108 Item No.: 12.c City Manager Approval Item description: Skating Center Arena Geothermal Project — Consideration of Contract BACKGROUND The official best -value process is complete through the pre -award phase for the geothermal project at the Roseville Skating Center Arena and the team has identified the apparent best -value proposal as Harty Mechanical, Austin Minnesota. In this case Harty Mechanical also had the low base price proposal. The proposal, not including contingency is as follows: Contractor Base Proposal Alternates Total Project Hardy Mechanical $1,570,000 $047,400 $2,217,400 To separate out some major components of the "full" geothermal system the request for proposals and the value engineering process included a base proposal for the general installation of the geothermal system plus 10 alternates, the alternates were as follows: Alternate 1 Concrete floor installation Alternate 2 Replace Arena Rooftop Units (RTUs) Alternate 3 Replace Meeting Room RTUs Alternate 4 Paving and Curbing of GHX Area (well field area) Alternate 5 Refrigeration Detector Systems Alternate 6 Deduct for Demolition of Dasher Boards Alternate 7 Controls for RTUs in Alternate 2 and 3 Alternate 8 Removal of Concrete Pier —unit price if needed Alternate 9 Add 6th refrigeration heat pump for redundancy Alternate 10 Add 12 wells to GHX for redundancy A review and recommendation letter from Karges- Faulconbridge, Inc. (KFI) is included in your packet. Representatives will be at the meeting to review the proposal and answer any questions. The schedule is still very important if the project is going to be done this year.
