POLICY OBJECTIVE
The policy objective with this particular project involves consideration of the cost/benefit to implement
sustainable uses for facilities in the city of Roseville as well as long term planning.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS
The total cost including alternates as described is $2,217,400, not including a contingency which should be
set at 10% of project costs. The anticipated savings is $23,400 per year. Future savings are also tied into a
future campus wide application. Currently the projected payback between a new "full" conventional
indirect system in 2007 dollars and the new "full" geothermal system in 2008 dollars is estimated at 22
years
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Considering all current and future options staff recommends the City Council consider authorizing the City
Manger to enter into an agreement with Harty Mechanical for the installation of a "full" geothermal system
at the Roseville Skating Center Arena at a cost not to exceed $2,217,400 plus a $225,000 contingency.
REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION
Consider authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Harty Mechanical to install a "full"
geothermal system at the Roseville Skating Center Arena for an amount not to exceed $2,217,400 plus a
$225,000 contingency with final approval of documents by City Attorney.
Prepared by: Lonnie Brokke, Director of Parks and Recreation
Attachments: A: Comparison chart
B.
