Same as City Council has provided to all other City staff.
5. COMPENSATORY TIME:
Compensatory time may be accrued up to eighty (80) hours for any overtime earned under the
provisions of this contract (including holidays). Overtime beyond the maximum will be paid in cash.
This is an increase from 60 and is the same as the Police Officer receive. It allows for more flexibility
and does not cost the City anything additional.
5. APPENDIX A — SPECIALTY PAY:
Increase specialty pay to Two Hundred Thirty Five ($235.00) dollars per month or Two Hundred
Thirty Five ($235.00) dollars prorated for less than a full month in addition to their regular wage rate.
This is an increase of $45 per month but compares with other cities and with their subordinates (Police
Officers). This pertains to the Sergeant assigned to supervise the Investigative Unit or Administrative
Sergeant.
7. COURT TIME:
Language to be added to the contract to be equitable with the Police Officers language:
Employees appearing in court during their scheduled off -duty time with less than one week
advance, notice shall be entitled to the three and one -half (3 1/2) hour minimum regardless of it
being an extension or early report.
Approval of this agreement will settle the last group for the 2008 year.
POLICY OBJECTIVE
Each year the City budgets for Wage and benefit adjustments for all employees. The adjustments stem
from the best information known or anticipated from the metro labor market, labor settlements, and the
consumer price index.
The City's compensation policy objectives include:
Internal Equity — maintaining a compensation and benefit package that is as consistent as
possible between the City's three union and two non -union groups.
External Equity- the policy is to maintain a compensation and benefits package that is
equivalent to comparable cities for comparable positions.
FINANCIAL IMPACTS
The budgeted personnel services funds in the 2008 budget would cover the cost of the proposed
collective bargaining agreement for 2008. Council would need to provide adequate budget for the
subsequent years.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approving the proposed terms and conditions for the 2008 - 2010 collective
bargaining agreement with the Teamsters.
