Develop and implement a program to improve our supervisors' abilities to coach <br />employees toward better performance and develop our supervisors' abilities to administer <br />effective departmental discipline with the goal of improved organizational performance. <br />• Continue to develop and implement programs and policies that ensure employee use of <br />the proper chain of command for information flow and problem solving. <br />Action Plan <br />AP 3.1 Provide training for department supervisors on topics related to accountability and how to <br />properly coach employees toward better performance and how to properly evaluate allegations of <br />inappropriate behavior by employees and supervisors, and how to consistently administer <br />discipline to employees. PRIORITY 3. <br />Ownership <br />Our organization will truly achieve greatness when all of our employees see themselves as <br />owners of this department. We shall encourage employee ownership in the department and <br />foster proprietorship and pride in our services. <br />The citizens of Roseville own the stations, the apparatus, and all of our equipment. Their tax <br />dollars have purchased all of our assets. But, our employees own the "Roseville Fire <br />Department" organization. We own our culture. We own our morale. We own our successes <br />and our failures. <br />Objectives <br />• Maintain programs that encourage and coach all employees to act as owners of the <br />department. <br />• Maintain programs that foster an environment where our employees are accountable for <br />the culture, morale, successes, and failures of the department. <br />Maintain programs that recognize and reward employees who behave appropriately as <br />owners. <br />Action Plan <br />AP 3.2 Coach and encourage supervisors and staff to display ownership traits that promote the <br />department's mission, vision, and values. PRIORITY 2. <br />AP 3.3 Maintain and seek new and innovative ways to ways to recognize and reward our <br />employee - owners of the department. PRIORITY 2. <br />Commitment <br />The issue of raising our employees' commitment to the organization was a topic of concern <br />raised during surveys with department employees. It is difficult to garner commitment until <br />employees understand the benefits. The best approach to articulating the advantage is through a <br />22 <br />
