<br />Resolution No. <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Procedure <br />Any employee who feels he or she is being subjected to sexual <br />harassment should: <br /> <br />1. Tell the harasser to stop. <br /> <br />2. Make a complaint. <br /> <br />MAKING SEXUAL HARASSMENT COMPLAINTS <br />Any employee who feels he or she is being subjected to sexual <br />harassment should immediately contact one of the persons below <br />with whom the employee feels the most comfortable. Complaints <br />may be made orally or in writing to: <br /> <br />1. The employee's immediate supervisor. <br /> <br />2. The employee's department head. <br /> <br />3. The Administrative Assistant to the City Manager. <br /> <br />4. The Assistant to the City Manager. <br /> <br />5. The City Manager. <br /> <br />6. A member of the city Council if the complaint is against the <br />City Manager. <br /> <br />Employees have the right to circumvent the employee chain of <br />command in selecting the person to whom they make a complaint of <br />sexual harassment. <br /> <br />Regardless of to which of the above persons the employee makes a <br />complaint of sexual harassment, the employee should be prepared <br />to provide the following information: <br /> <br />1. Employee's name, department, and position title. <br /> <br />2. The name of the person or persons committing the sexual <br />harassment, including their title/s, if known. <br /> <br />3. The specific nature of the sexual harassment, how long it has <br />gone on, and any employment action (demotion, failure to <br />promote, dismissal, refusal to hire, transfer, etc.) taken <br />against you as a result of the harassment, or any other <br />threats made against you as a result of the harassment. <br /> <br />4. witnesses to the harassment. <br /> <br />5. Whether you have previously reported such harassment and, if <br />so, when and to whom. <br /> <br />The person to whom the complaint is made will report this informa- <br />tion to the City Manager so that an investigation can be under- <br />taken. <br />
