preference of residents using Walter's service in their providing fee yard waste <br />pick -up. <br />Members Felice, Stenlund, and Vanderwall noted that, while it may appear "free," <br />residents paid an upfront fee at the beginning of the season, and the service was <br />not free. <br />Member Gjerdingen noted the need to include language, currently in City Code, <br />for alternative collections options, such as "environmentally - friendly <br />alternatives." <br />While discussing these elements in principle at this time, as the Commission got <br />closer to determining if they would recommend organization collection, Member <br />Vanderwall noted the need to clearly define each of those issues and which <br />option(s) would be best; including how to maintain the same number of haulers <br />and their current percentages, and alternatives if haulers chose not to meet pricing <br />levels. <br />Page 6 of 17 <br />
