itate: January 30, 1981 <br />To: City Council <br />From-, Jim Andre <br />Subject: Municipal Liquor Store Operation <br />This is to advise the Council of the financial conditicn of the Mmicipal. <br />r,i-quor Store for the year ending December 31, 1980, and to make reccmTend- <br />ations concerning future operations. <br />The City of Roseville cperates one off-sale liquor outleti, which is located <br />in the Har Mar Mall, The Hamline and 1,exington off-sale outlets were closed <br />in 1979 and 1980 respectively. <br />ison of 1980 vs'1979 Perfo=ance <br />Total gross sales for 1980 was $846,,091 which represents a $172,795 decreas-,jw, <br />fr = 1979. The decrease is attributed to the dual affect of closing the <br />Lexington Store in June, 1980 the Store in June, 1979, <br />0 <br />Total net income in 1980 fran all stores was $81,403 representing an inc��t <br />of $33,126 over 1979. Total net income includes revenue fran concessions, <br />sale of equipment fran the Lexington Store,, interest on investTents and crdier <br />a <br />m2.scellaneous J=AUL1 1 <br />0 & <br />Total net incom fr(n ge���t�lon�s , is a nr)re meaningful fl-gure in that it <br />represents the return fran the sale of liquor, beer and wine,, the p=.ncipal <br />merchandise for sale, Net income fmn operations in 1980 -is $59,985 or a <br />$23,632 id �zrease over 1979, 1 <br />Specific factors affecting the total net inccme frcm cperations f igure are <br />fescreases in insil �ance costs'($6,,000) and nwagement salaries '($4,000). However, <br />these posve factors were = re than offset by the loss performance of the <br />Store ($13,900). <br />Tctal unencumbered reserves an the Liquor Fund have domcxecase substantially over <br />the past two years because of the need for a reduced inventory and pi-ofits over <br />the sarne period. <br />Hamline Store This store was closed in Tune, 1979, and is relevant to this <br />0 <br />report only to the extent of Wparjng 1980 total figures with 1979.0 <br />
