Recommissioning, brought to you by Conservation Wise from Xcel Energy'''', is similar to a "tune-up" for your building's existing mechanical systems. When your building was new, the systems and equipment were new and in top condition. As your building ages and as personnel changes, key equipment may be running differently or less efficiently than in the past. In addition, systems may have been inadvertently modified during remodeling or tenant-finish projects. All of this means you could be losing money to unintended inefficiencies. You can get your building back in shape with help from our Recommissioning program. Recommissioning your facility is a two-step process, diagnosis and implementation: 1. Diagnosis Xcel Energy will provide a study rebate for up to 50 percent of the cost of a recom- missioning study, notto exceed $15,000, to review the conditions of the existing mechanical systems in your facility. The writ- ten study includes recommendations, based on the diagnostic assessment, and details how best to return your building's current mechanical systems to peak efficiency. You can select your own contractor, or choose from our list of providers who have completed a study in the past. Xcel Energy will review the study pre-approval application and proposal, and determine what level of study rebate we will provide. 2. Implementation Earn electric and natural gas rebates, up to half of the cost of implementing recom- mended changes. You also will realize ongo- ing energy savings over the life of your equipment and building systems. In addition, Recommissioining provides education for your staff and guidance for maintaining the efficiency of your building's mechanical systems. Because energy loss fi'om inefficient systems and worn equipment is often difficult to detect, the value of Recommissioning can be underestimated. However, customers typically see 5 percent to 15 percent potential reductions in their energy costs. Although most buildings can benefit from Recommissioning, the ideal building is more than five years old, and has functional large mechanical systems and controls that do not need replacement.
