Fire Chief Gasaway spoke to each of the following 2005- <br />2006 issues: <br /> <br />A. New FD workload items for 2005 <br /> <br />1. Transition to 800 MegaHertz radio system <br />2. Dispatch center issues (St. Paul v. Ramsey Co. v. 1 con- <br />solidated center) <br />3. Expanding firefighter health & wellness program <br />4. Advanced technical rescue team training <br />5. Providing medical first-responder, CPR, AED, blood- <br />borne pathogens, right-to-know, hazardous materials <br />and confined space awareness training for all city em- <br />ployees <br />6. Provide EMT medical stand-bys for youth sporting <br />events in Roseville (football & basketball) <br />7. Incorporating medical training into regular fire depart- <br />ment drill program <br />8. Continue development of child passenger safety seat in- <br />spection program <br /> <br />B. 2006 Opportunities <br /> <br />1. Addressing daytime staffing shortages <br />2. Consider addition of training manager - daytime shift <br />superVIsor <br />3. Addressing firefighter pay and benefits <br />4. Consider fire department response to injury accidents <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka commented on the value of having a <br />work session dedicated to discussing the issue of emergency <br />response to injury accidents. <br /> <br />d.)
