<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 02/14/05 <br />Minutes - Page 19 <br /> <br />his recommendation that the firm of Iverson Reuvers be retained. <br /> <br />Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, authorizing staff to <br />recommend for hire to the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance <br />Trust the law firm of Iverson Reuvers, 9321 Ensign Avenue <br />South, Bloomington, MN, to serve as the City's legal counsel <br />related to the lawsuit Friends of Twin Lakes v. the City of <br />Roseville. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan opined that, in her review of the firms, she <br />found that the recommended firm had no experience with AUAR <br />claims or with metro-area or urban-area reviews, but rather <br />seemed to have more experience in out-state rural litigation. Ms. <br />Ihlan further opined that, with Metropolitan Council <br />requirements for Comprehensive Plans; and recommended the <br />firm of Kennedy & Graven, or George C. Hoff at Hoff, Barry & <br />Kuderer, given their more extensive metro-area experience, and <br />MERA (Minnesota Environmental Recovery Act) issues. Ms. <br />Ihlan further opined that, in speaking with her colleagues, she <br />had received favorable recommendations for the firm of Greene <br />Espel. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Beets respectfully noted Councilmember Ihlan's <br />observations, but noted that the amendment of the complaint <br />from strictly an AUAR/EA W issue to one involving the MERA, <br />the demonstrated trial experiences in MERA claims by the law <br />firm of Iverson Reuvers became even more applicable to his <br />recommendation. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Klausing. <br />Nays: Ihlan. <br /> <br />13.
