The City's contributions vary, sometimes it is
through technical assistance, sometimes it is by financial assistance. These projects can be as
simple as lowering a catch basin to resolve a drainage problem, or regrading a swale along a
county road. In the coming month, we are participating in 3 different partnership projects.
Westwood Village III: Westwood Village townhomes is located on the north side of County
Road C between Dale Street and McKubin. There are 38 property owners involved m this
partnership. These townhomes back onto a City storm water ponding easement. Last spring,
the townhome maintenance committee approached the City with concerns about the erosion of
the shoreline of this pond. We contacted Ramsey Conservation District and they helped us to
put together a shoreline restoration project.
The proposed improvement will install slope stabilization in the form of biologs along the
south shoreline of this pond. The biologs will be planted with native wetland vegetation to
help prevent further erosion of the shoreline. Ramsey Conservation District has contracted
with Minnesota Conservation Corps to perform this work June 14 and 15th.
The estimated cost for this project is $12,000. Ramsey Conservation District has agreed to
provide $2000 through their Native Vegetation Landscape Restoration Program.. The
Westwood Village III homeowners association is contributing $2500. The City of Roseville is
proposing to contribute $2000 towards this project. The remaining funding will be provided
by a $6500 DNR grant. Since the DNR grant is a reimbursement program, one of the partners
needs to front the money for the construction materials. We have been asked to serve in this
role.
• Page 1
