memo
7of11
Response This implementation activity will be struck from the plan. As discussed with Mark
Maloney, there is a general statement regarding the application of this alternative
stormwater management technique under the Stormwater Management section of the
plan.
Comment (MM) Since the DNR has an approved lake level plan for Snail Lake it is recommended that
Goal 1.13 which states that the GLWMO will "Assist the City of Shoreview and the
SLID with lake augmentation activities and public expectations regarding lake levels" be
struck from the plan. These lake levels have been established and will not change from
that has been approved.
Response This change will be made to the plan
Comment (KE) Add some text to the Grass Lake issue statement (page 121) indicating that depending on
high water levels, water could discharge from the GLWMO into VLAWMO and vice
versa.
Response This change will be made to the plan
Comment (KE) Add an implementation activity for Westwood Village Pond that would read "Consider
ways of managing roof and parking lot runoff in the highly impervious subwatershed
draining to Westwood Village Pond ".
Response This change will be made to the plan
Comment (KE) Add re- directing downspouts to implementation activity 3.Lb which talks about
educating residents of the GLWMO.
Response This change will be made to the plan
Comment (MM) Modify implementation activity 6.3.b which talks about Stormwater Education for
Municipal Staff so that it speaks more to leveraging staff and existing activities and so
that it identifies training for illicit discharge detection.
Response This change will be made to the plan
Comment (MM) Add an implementation activity to Goal 7.4 (page 136) stating that the GLWMO will
explore opportunities to help Shoreview in the development of Part II of its Wellhead
Protection Plan.
Response This change will be made to the plan
Comment (MM) The issue statement for 6.3.8 GLWMO Standards and Criteria says "Given the
impervious nature of the watershed, proposed land use changes and the existing water
quality of the resources, there is a need to adopt more protective standards." Recommend
clarifying the sentence so it is clear what is meant by more protective standards: more
protective than what?
Response This recommendation will be addressed in the next draft of the plan.
Emmons & Olivier Resources, Inc.
651 Hale Ave N, Oakdale, MN 55128 p: 651.770.8448 f: 651.770.2552 www.eorinc.com
