City Council Regular Meeting - 01110/05
Minutes - Page 20

Dan Roe, 2100 Avon Street N
Mr. Roe spoke in support of the project; noting that now and
since the area's inception for consideration of redevelopment,
there were varying opinions. Mr. Roe reviewed the advantages
and disadvantages of the proposed project and its various
components; but encouraged Councilmembers and citizens to not
"fear what might happen, but look at the opportunity of what
could happen," and to take advantage of this opportunity to do
this type of development right, and remain the leader that the
City of Roseville has become.

Yul Yost - 3015 Fairview Avenue
Mr. Yost spoke in opposition to the project; reviewed his
volunteer history in preserving Langton Lake and the natural
area surrounding it; and questioned what legacy the current City
Council wished to leave to the community. Mr. Yost encouraged
Councilmembers to protect Langton Lake and area habitat as a
natural oasis and something of value for posterity.

Gale Pederson, 929 Roselawn Avenue W
Ms. Pederson spoke in support of the proposed project, noting
that retail was a good partner in Roseville and provided a solid
tax base in the community, allowing the services and amenities
enjoyed by all. Ms. Pederson noted that, while "big box" retail
may not be preferred, the housing units to be gained would be a
positive for the community, as well as the additional tax base
from the development and long-term benefits. Ms. Pederson
encouraged residents to trust staff and the City Council, as well
as the Parks and Recreation Commission to monitor and protect
Langton Lake and the surrounding area. Ms. Pederson
concluded by noting the advantages of cleaning up the polluted
area to residential, rather than industrial, standards.

John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street
Mr. Kysylyczyn spoke in support of the proposed project,
concurring that it was the best project seen in 15 years. Mr.
Kysylyczyn cautioned the City Council on the overall impacts of
this project and encouraged consistency in seeing the project
through, rather than wasting staff time and taxpayer monies by
only going half-way with the project.
