<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 01/10/05 <br />Minutes - Page 21 <br /> <br />Carol Erickson, 2925 Mildred Drive <br />Ms. Erickson, as a long-time proponent and promoter of Langton <br />Lake, spoke her wholehearted agreement with this project; <br />reminding citizens that the City did not own the land and this <br />was an opportunity to work cooperatively with a private <br />developer to ensure that the City's concerns and issues were <br />addressed. Ms. Erickson concluded by commenting on the <br />continuing dominance of retail as addressed in a newspaper <br />article dated January 3, 2005. <br /> <br />Katherine Smith, 1784 Maple Lane <br />Ms. Smith emphasized citizen concern that shoreline and lake <br />preservation were important concerns, and development as far <br />away from the lake as possible was desired. Ms. Smith <br />requested statistics from the City Council and staff related to the <br />study of the percentage of residents from Roseville and those <br />from outside Roseville who remained in the community in <br />recently-constructed elderly hi-rise facilities. <br /> <br />Ralph Rosenthal, 3035 N Fairview Avenue <br />Mr. Rosenthal encouraged Councilmembers to keep the concerns <br />of residents regarding Langton Lake, traffic, and other quality of <br />life issues uppermost in their mind while making this major <br />decision. <br /> <br />Steven Carlson, 1770 Lydia Avenue <br />Mr. Carlson spoke in opposition to the proposed project, citing <br />concerns related to Langton Lake and Park and sufficiency of <br />open space with additional housing units proposed; connectivity <br />to other parks; and his strong opposition to big box retail. <br /> <br />Emily Schreurs, 3058 N Wilder <br />Ms. Schreurs spoke in opposition to the project, cItmg her <br />concerns related to preserving the wildlife buffer to the area <br />park; and the significant impact of the proposed Parkway to the <br />area and surrounding roadways. <br /> <br />Bruce Carlson, owner of building next to Terrace Drive at <br />the intersection of Fairview Avenue <br />Mr. Carlson reiterated his previous concerns regarding the <br />proposed rezoning of properties and impacts that would make his <br />
