City Council Regular Meeting - 01/10/05
Minutes - Page 35

dates and locations were: February 24, 2005 for the southwest
quadrant of the City at the Fairview Community Center Great
Room; March 14, 2005 for the northwest quadrant at
Northwestern College's Blue Room; April 11, 2005 for the
southeast quadrant at the national Guard gymnasium; and April
25, 2005 for the northeast quadrant at the Central Park School
gymnasIum.

Mayor Klausing opined his appreCIatIOn of the Town Hall
meetings for their tremendous value and the great feedback
received at the last meetings.

John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street
Mr. Kysylyczyn reiterated his comments from past meetings
related to the cost per capita for those few residents attending the
Town Hall meetings; and provided his perception of public
comment and preference as it related to Council action taken;
opining that the Council's actions didn't coordinate with public
preference. Mr. Kysylyczyn expressed his strong opposition to
spending taxpayer monies for future Town Hall meetings if they
followed the same format as those held in 2004.

Councilmember Ihlan expressed her support of Town Hall
meetings; but suggested that only two be held, rather than the
four proposed. Councilmember Ihlan noted that making an effort
to listen to people was always a worthwhile venture; and noted
that it may take time to spark the public's interest in such
meetings.

Councilmember Schroeder spoke in support of holding fewer
meetings; and spoke in opposition to the formal format currently
being used for the meetings, recommending that a workshop
level be used to encourage attendance and let residents speak.

Discussion ensued regarding the number of meetings and
proposed dates.

Klausing moved, Maschka seconded, directing staff to schedule
and prepare for two Town Hall meetings to be held on April 11,
2005 at the National Guard gymnasium; and April 25, 2005 at
the Central Park School gymnasium.
