<br />City Council Study Session - 01124/05 <br />Minutes - Page 13 <br /> <br />resolution indicating City Council support for one or more <br />specified transportation funding proposals as discussed <br />previously; or consideration of staff preparation of a <br />proposal for Council consideration that would enable the <br />City to develop a city-wide traffic management model. <br /> <br />Discussion included the City's need to zero in on specific <br />legislation before the State to determine options; interest in <br />supporting the AMC proposed legislation, with staff asked <br />to provide additional information to the City Council and <br />monitor pending actions at the state level; <br /> <br />Council consensus was to direct staff to provide a more <br />detailed presentation on the proposed traffic management <br />model discussed, prior to further authorization of hiring a <br />consultant and to draft a preliminary proposal for Council <br />review and consideration for such a model. <br /> <br />Ilecess Ilecess <br />Mayor Klausing recessed the meeting at approximately 8:53 p.m. <br />and reconvened at 9:02 p.m. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />Transit Shelter Briefing <br />Public Works Director Duane Schwartz provided background <br />information related to previous Council actions and a transit <br />shelter franchise ordinance that was adopted. Council chose not <br />to proceed with a proposal from the firm Outdoor Promotions for <br />20 transit shelters proposed in early 2004, but directing staff to <br />discuss transit shelters with Transtop, Inc. <br /> <br />Transit Shelter <br />Briefing <br /> <br />Mr. Schwartz advised that staff had been working with Transtop <br />Inc., a current provider of advertising transit shelters in <br />Minneapolis and St. Paul, and noted their interest in expanding <br />their program in Roseville. Mr. Schwartz further noted that <br />Transtop was a local company with a maintenance staff and <br />warehouse already located in the metropolitan area. Mr. <br />Schwartz advised that company representatives were present <br />tonight to address the City Council; and staff was seeking City <br />Council direction whether to proceed with the company through <br />the Public Works, Environment and Transportation Commission <br />
