Mayor Klausing suggested to City Manager Beets that, perhaps in a future Park Department informational presentation, Mr. Evenson could identify various invasive speCIes. 2. City Council Goal Setting Mayor Klausing introduced the ranking process - by department and corporately by staff, and individually by Councilmembers, during and following the Saturday, February 19, 2005 Council Study Session in an effort to draft a preliminary 2006 Budget. Mayor Klausing encouraged discussion at tonight's meeting in an effort to find areas of consensus among Councilmembers to provide guidance to staff in their development and preparation of budget priorities for 2006. City Manager Beets noted that staff was beginning preparation of a 2006 Preliminary Budget to present to the City Council in June of2005, to be followed by a series of Budget Work Sessions. Mayor Klausing attempted to guide discussion to build consensus, through initiating discussion for the Public Safety priorities and to determine department rankings and priorities; areas for considering expansion of services or programs, and areas where reductions or elimination of services or programs could be considered. Councilmember Schroeder expressed his preference for additional Police Officers on the street, n<)t in management or administrative positions; speaking in support of increasing traffic enforcement from one to three officers on the street, and to bring back Community Service Officer (CSO) positions to provide assistance to the Police Department and get officers back on the street. Councilmember Maschka expressed his support for exploration of a Commercial Patrol Service, noting that a majority of the crime in Roseville was in commercial areas. City Council Goal Setting
