<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Proposed Amendment for Dangerous Animals Ordinance -- #2 <br />Amy Ihlan <br /> <br />I move to amend 501.16(D)(7) as follows: <br /> <br />(7) The City may seize a dangerous animal if~ any of the requirements contained in this <br />subdivision have not been mot. <br />(a) the animal is not validly registered under this Ordinance within 14 days after <br />the owner receives notice that the animal has been declared dangerous; <br />(b) the owner does not secure proper liability insurance or surety coveraf2;e as <br />required under this Ordinance within 14 days after the owner receives notice that the <br />animal has been declared dangerous; <br />(c) the animal is not maintained in the proper enclosure as required under this <br />Ordinance; or <br />(d) the animal is outside the proper enclosure and not under the physical restraint <br />of a responsible person as required under this Ordinance. <br /> <br />A seized animal may be reclaimed upon payment of impounding and <br />confinement costs and proof that the requirements of this Ordinance will be met. An <br />animal not reclaimed within seven days may will--be destroyed, and the owner will be <br />liable for all costs incurred in confining and disposing of the animal. <br /> <br />The amended language makes the Ordinance parallel to Minn. Stat. 9347.54, subds. 1 and <br />2. <br />
