February 22, 2012
Item 6.ii.a
Outreach Committee
Arianne: It would be really important for us to convene on a regular basis to share information and plan
together so that we could use all of our resources.
Gwen and Mark: both will be working on the statement — Position Statement Committee
Gary: Considering raising the possibility of a regional forum with the League of MNHRC.
How to educate the community about the issue? Proposed draft? Gary asks Jill to draft; Arianne wants
to help. Come together to work on the position statement together, with the language already started
prior to meeting. We will build capacity and be much more powerful together.
Check into language of Outfront, MN United...
Joint press release! Media...
Target date to complete by: June/July
Gary: We are planning a half day retreat/workshop for commission/professional development.
Arianne: very interested in participating...share costs
Wayne: We would benefit from an outside facilitator rather than perform our own in-house facilitation.
Morning part could be general HRC development/training
Lunch
Afternoon — could separate into our own HRC and brainstorm objectives for the year
Thelma arrives.
Thelma: raises the issue of the article based on Golden Valley and Hopkins, and asks what we as a HRC
body can do.
Arianne: We should continue to meet to support one another's work.
Wayne: we are using this as a prototype so that other HRCs around the region could collaborate and
continue to build strength and gain support. We need to be more active in our surrounding city (i.e. our
HR district) so that we can collaborate and do more, or just to be aware.
Thelma: talks about Isanti County and their changes.
Gary: talks about reassessing the changes (i.e. how Roseville reassessed city government access)
I had to leave.
