The most recent
acivity has been the presentatian o£ a revised plan by a Citizen's Cozrnittee cal.ling
for the roac, ray to be basically fatx ].anes vide, except fox ].eft turn slots at the
appraaches to Cau.nty Raad B. The only medians involved are nea.r Larpenteizr Avenue.
Yncluded in this tvork are signalzation projects, storm drains, and other facilities
a.ssocaed with this kind of activity.
From an engineering aspect this design kould meet at least the existing xzEeds, and
hapefully also meet the future neect. Zt greatily redues potenti.al citizen conflict
by excluding the medians. It ieould appear that ihe appropriae action at his tim
would b for the City Gatmcil to give conceptual approval af he £our lane roadvay
and ad.vise the Coxn.ty of said action so tha actual hearings could be established for
pl.anning onsiceraion.
It is also qz.xite apparent that thre is a need or some type of non-matorized pathway
aJ.ong Lexzngton Avenue. At this time, ha.rever, it is not lawn t+rhaf. type of. £aciiity,
how wide, what right,s-of-way would be required, ox where the funds tvould came from,
or such aacility. It iTould, herefore, seem appropria.te to note this need for
adclitional infarmation concexni.zg the non-motorized pathaay a the County and reques
that the Cotancl be gzven additional input both £xom the citizens and hy way of
detailed plans be£ore any conclusions can be reached as to .hi5 aspect of the work.
Recoended Council Acton: Idapion of a resolution giving conceptua
approval to the Citizen Commzttee Pl.an for
upgrading Lexington Avenue and recuesti.ng
the County to prepare the necessaxy d.ata and
plans leading to oficial pualic hearing.
t is fuxthex rauested hat additzonal information
be pxovided the Cotmcl in regard to proposals .for
meeting the need for non-motoxizeci pathway alon
Lexington Avenue and the ramifications such aacili.ty
would l:ave.
1
