REVIEWED/RECOMMEiVDS: At the Council work session on Ju�y 28, the Ci�y Council directed the sta£� to initiate an in-house animal patrol program. The program included the hiring af two police in�erns to serve as CoirQnunity Service Officers and assigning them the responsibil��ty o£ ariimal cantrol. The��pri�nary benefit oF the prograrn is that it ti,rill allow us direct control over the animaZ ordinance and enable fihe City to provide a�oxe personaZi.zed service. Since fihe initial disci�ssian to go ahead �rith the progr�n, two police interns have been hired and a vehicle has been equipped for animal patro7.. The only other items necessary is io cantract with the veteri.nary i�inic ta serve as the City pound. After reviewing a nwriber of possibilities we are reco�ending that f.he City enter into a contract with the Brighton Veterinary Clinic located at 2215 Mississippi Street, New Brighton, approximately 5 milss fra�n the RoseviZle City HaZI. In order to provide �his service, a Veterinarian needs ta have spec�al. faci�.it�es available. The Brighton Clinic is designed specifically to provide this service. The attached contx-act has been reviewed.by the City Attorney and meefis his approval. Coux�c��J. Action R,�quested: Motion authflrizing the Mayor and the City Manager to sign the contract with I}r..
