Special Joint Study Session: Roseville Citizen Commission Chairs, Department Heads, City Council
Saturday, 02/07/04, Harriet Alexander Nature Center, 2520 North Dale Street, Roseville, MN
Discussion Notes - Page 27

10. Wrap-Up Wrap-Up
As the time was now after 1 :00 p.m., Mayor Klausing noted that
each participant may have come to the meeting with different
expectations and perceptions, and noted this meeting as the start
of communication, to be followed by Town Hall meetings to talk
to neighbors; which would then be followed by Council-level
discussions, and the budget process as priorities and policy issues
were determined.

Councilmember Maschka addressed the need to tap into "baby
boomers," and their increased longevity, revolving
retirement that could create opportunities for the City from
a staffing concept (Le., reserve internships, flexibility,
expertise and tremendous volunteer pool).

Further discussion included changing needs in parks and
services, and addressing parents versus daycare providers; the
common human nature of all people; and need for a community
gathering space.
City Manager Beets concluded discussion by noting that today's
comments would be processed, and on behalf of staff thanked
Councilmembers and Chairpersons for their participation. Mr.
Beets asked for patience as the process was continued over the
next few months, and acknowledged the valuable feedback
received today.

11. Adjourn Adjourn
Mayor Klausing thanked everyone for their participation and
adjourned the meeting at approximately 1: 15 p.m.

craig7D.
ATTEST:

~d~t~

lausing, Mayor
