<br />Regular City Council Meeting - 03/29/04 <br />Minutes - Page 26 <br /> <br />installation; the choice of location for the pole to reduce aesthetic <br />concerns; projected additional revenues and the designated use of <br />those revenues to support the City's Information Technology <br />(IT) support functions, eliminating the need for taxpayer support. <br /> <br />Further discussion included the existing base and its ability to <br />support the additional extension, with Mr. Miller noting that the <br />original base had been reinforced to accommodate further height. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kough sought clarification regarding any signal <br />interference; with Mr. Miller responding that there are provisions <br />in the lease agreement related to residential or city functions, <br />noting that there is sufficient space with the arrays to limit <br />interference. <br /> <br />Councilmember Maschka sought clarification of options for <br />additional use by the City in the future and/or installation of the <br />800 MHz system. Mr. Miller responded that the City has <br />sufficient space at this time, but could remove the antennae in the <br />future if required; and that the City Hall Campus site was not a <br />site identified by Ramsey County as an 800 MHz site, but staff <br />had left that option open. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder sought clarification if there was <br />sufficient ground space to accommodate additional providers; <br />with Mr. Miller responding that there was room to accommodate <br />up to 4 additional users with the additional pole site. <br /> <br />Eugene Bahnemann, 2656 N Lexington Avenue <br />Mr. Bahnemann spoke against the project; noting the impact on <br />his property of recent parking lot light installation and the <br />unsightliness of the monopole without the extension. Mr. <br />Bahnemann expressed concern about the amount of radiation and <br />his lack of knowledge for the installation of the monopole itself. <br /> <br />Mr. Miller noted, at the request of Mayor Klausing, that <br />telecommunications companies go through the normal planning <br />and land use process; and staff attempted to guide locations away <br />from residential neighborhoods. Mr. Miller further noted that, as <br />far as notifications, from a land use standpoint, he would need to <br />consult with Community Development Director Welsch as to the <br />
