The applicant propases.to construct in addition to the s�gns a7ready <br />on the. property, a pylon sign, 102 feet in heigh.t, with a sign area <br />af 41� square '�eet. This is a single pole py�lon des7gned to be visible <br />from Highway 351� -�rom the north and the south. When the hotel <br />was �nitially cons-�ructed back in 1970, there avas concern expressed <br />on the part of the city regarding�ihe physica3 and visua� relat�on- <br />ship to Interstate 35W and its interchange access point at County <br />Road C as relates to the hotel property. Subsequent ta the con� <br />struction,. there have been a series of signing proposals processed <br />tt�ru the City dealing with this ques�ion. Perhaps some background <br />as rela�es io th�se proposa�s will be heipf�l �n r�eviewTng the <br />cur�ent application; <br />Tn Apri7 of 1970 the owners of the hotel, Jell and Assoc�ates <br />app7ied for a variance for the existing pylon sign constructed <br />at the front of �he pr��erty contiguous to Clevelar�d Avenue. <br />A sign 45 feet in height with an area af 40� square feet was <br />appraved in variance to the then current heigf�t limita'�ion of <br />25 feet and 100 square �Feet in area, <br />In 1971 the appl�cants applied for perm�ssion to place a nean <br />sign nn �he roaf of �1�e exist�r�g struc�ure oriented at a 45° <br />angle to the northwest_ Inasmuch as the Rosev�lle Sign <br />Ordi nance di sal l o��s si gns an roo�Fs , thi s appl i cati on was turned <br />down at that time.
