City Council Study Session - 07/18/05
Minutes - Page 20

up response to be provided at a later time, rather than to take
meeting time for reading.

Councilmember Ihlan reiterated her desire to raise the public
follow-up questions at a public meeting to allow public
comment.

Councilmember Schroeder questioned the validity of the factual
information in the article under discussion; opining that it
appeared to be more of a propaganda article disagreeing with the
Twin Lakes project moving forward.

Mayor Klausing concurred that the article was more of an
advocacy article, rather than a factual summary; and suggested
Councilmember Ihlan submit her follow-up questions in writing
for staff research and response.

Councilmember Ihlan, via point of order, requested the floor to
continue her verbal questions, while agreeing to submit the
questions to staff for their written response, following her verbal
review of the questions.

Councilmember Schroeder opined his lack of interest in pursuing
this agenda item discussion at this time, and left the meeting at
9:05 p.m.

Councilmember Ihlan proceeded to talk about her questions
related to environmental clean up status and apparent hazardous
materials present on the various parcels.

City Manager Beets disputed Councilmember Ihlan's
interpretation of staff s response to several of the questions.

Mayor Klausing attempted to focus the discussion on the specific
questions, rather than commentary.

Councilmember Ihlan expressed her concern with the Council
and staff response to her follow-up questions; and for the record,
expressed her displeasure at the treatment of her in a Council
meeting setting, and apparent lack of respect of her as a
Councilmember.
