<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 06/20/05 <br />Minutes - Page 22 <br /> <br />funds would remain after the 25 years of the district for city <br />benefit. <br /> <br />Della Denard <br />Ms. Denard questioned the Council as to their fairness and <br />honesty in representing the citizens who elected them into <br />office. Ms. Denard referenced the recent newspaper poll <br />and responses, and asked the City Council not to go against <br />the wishes ofthe citizens. <br /> <br />Gale Pederson, 929 W Roselawn Avenue <br />Ms. Pederson addressed the need to clean up the <br />contaminated property, not just blight, but a known and <br />identified carcinogen. Ms. Pederson, while not in <br />agreement with the project in its entirety, noted the 730 <br />housing units offered in the development, in addition to <br />other amenities and redevelopment of the entire area. Ms. <br />Pederson opined that her main concern was in cleaning up <br />contaminants along the lake and park to eliminate potential <br />health hazards and for benefits for future generations. Ms. <br />Pederson asked citizens to look at the positives, not just the <br />negatives; and opined that truck bodies do not make good <br />natural habitat. <br /> <br />Tim Kotecki, 3078 Mount Ridge Road <br />Mr. Kotecki reviewed statistics and demographics he had <br />researched related to existing retail in the area. Mr. Kotecki <br />summarized his concerns by asking if citizens wanted to <br />invest their future tax dollars for additional retail <br />development; and respectfully asked the City Council to <br />vote "no" on the financing proposal for this project. <br /> <br />Craig Christenson, 2585 Wheeler Avenue <br />Mr. Christenson opined that he didn't support TIF; and that <br />while he could support a project, not necessarily this one. <br /> <br />Mr. Christenson referenced Exhibit Q related to the <br />LEADS process and rating system; questioned whether the <br />proposed language was enforceable; questioned items <br />related to the State Energy Code and the less-stringent <br />commercial than residential code.
