As part of the emergency medical services system for responding to medical emergencies, Allina Medical Transportation welcomes and appreciates the support of public-sector first responders to assist in the stabilization and treatment of patients. Throughout the SO-plus communities that Allina Medical Transportation provides emergency ambulance service, different cities and townships use a variety of models for providing first response services to their citizens. These include law enforcement only, fire department only, and in many cities, joint response by law enforcement and fire service resources. The decision of how local police and fire resources are utilized is a decision that legitimately lies with the city council. As such, Allina Medical Transportation appreciates the different models used by various communities and works with those departments to meet the needs of the community. Allina Medical Transportation supports the City of Roseville decision to employ the resources of both its police department and fire department in a coordinated response to motor vehicle accidents. The delineation of functions and responsibilities at the scene of motor vehicle accidents will provide additional resources for the prompt stabilization and treatment of patients requiring emergency medical care.
