<br />Procedure for joint PoliceIFire response to reported auto <br />accident with injuries <br /> <br />Purpose: <br />This procedure will address the operations, response, and dispatch protocols for joint <br />Police/Fire response to vehicle accident with injuries. The purpose of this procedure is to <br />reduce the likelihood of injuries to personnel, provide effective and efficient emergency <br />medical care to victims, provide for consistent and timely dispatch and communication <br />and to reinforce our concern for the safety of our employee's operating at the scene of <br />vehicle accidents. <br /> <br />Procedure: <br /> <br />1) Ramsey County dispatch upon report of an accident with incapacitating <br />injuries within the City of Roseville shall dispatch Roseville Police in <br />accordance with their SOP's for response to accident with injuries. <br />2) Ramsey County dispatch will notify Allina Medical Transportation of the <br />reported accident and request their standard response. <br />3) Ramsey County dispatch will call Roseville Fire dispatch (St. Paul <br />communications Center) and request the Fire Departments standard response. <br />4) When a Roseville Police unit arrives at the accident scene and determines that <br />there are no injuries or minor injuries the officer will notify Ramsey dispatch <br />and Ramsey dispatch will be responsible for notification to Both Allina and <br />Roseville Fire to modify the response. Whenever possible Roseville Fire will <br />monitor Ramsey County Main for updated communications. <br />5) Allina Medical Transportation will have the primary responsibility for any and <br />all patient care. <br />6) The Roseville Police department will have command of accident scenes and <br />will have the following areas of responsibilities: <br />a. Patient care until Allina or Fire arrives. <br />b. Scene control <br />c. Accident investigation, reconstruction, and reporting <br />d. Traffic control <br />7) Fire Department will have the following areas of responsibilities: <br />a. Patient care until Allina arrives. <br />b. Assist with traffic control <br />c. Hazard mitigation, and clean-up <br />d. Fire control <br />e. Extrication <br />
