Councilmember Ihlan suggested that the <br />Human Rights Commission review the scope of the <br />current ordinance for clarity; and that the reference be <br />inclusive of the Minnesota Human Rights Act, as well as <br />applicable federal legislation. <br /> <br />Mayor Klausing so noted Councilmember Ihlan' s <br />comments for the Human Rights Commission to look at <br />in the future; but refocused attention to the request <br />currently before the City Council, for City Ordinance to <br />track state statute. <br /> <br />Maschka moved, Kough seconded, enactment of <br />Ordinance No. 1324 entitled, "An Ordinance Amending <br />Title 2, Section 204.03, and Title 12, Section 1207.27, <br />Updating the City Code to Include all Protected Classes <br />for Equal Protection by the City. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Ihlan; Schroeder; Kough; Maschka and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />4.d <br /> <br />Approve Clean Up Day Contract Extension (former <br />Consent Item 3.j) <br />City Manager Beets, as requested by Mayor Klausing, <br />provided an overview of the request for Council action <br />and staff report dated August 8, 2005. City Manager <br />Beets opined that, given the firm's understanding, <br />exemplary performance and achieved experience with <br />crowd and traffic control and organization of the drop-off <br />site, and their willingness to hold pricing flat for an <br />additional two years, staff was recommending extending <br />the contract, rather than pursuing Requests for Proposals <br />(RFP's) at this time. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schroeder questioned if other companies <br />were available for consideration of an RFP; and opined <br />that it seemed only fair, that if the contract had already <br />been renewed for two years, that other quotes and <br />company interest be solicited. <br /> <br />Approve Clean Up <br />Day Contract <br />Extension <br />
