Elnforfiuna�eiy, this system is now aged to the point �rhere it does not operate �roperly and mor� modern techn�ques have been developed ivhich maice this method of operation obsolete. i'he staff, therefore, proposes to replace tnis system with a new modern device which would remedy these problems. As you recall, severai mon�hs ago, the firm of 6anister, St�ort, �lliott, Hen- dri c[cson and Associ ates was corr�ni ssioned to i r�vesti gate thi s problem a�d prepare specifications for the rep7acement o� this system. They have com- pleted this investigation and drafts of iheir report �rere submitted last m�nth far review. Funds for this �mprovement w�re budge�ed in the Water Department's �.975 8udget and prei imi nary estimates i ndi cate �hat the cost ��ri � 1 be approxi -- mately equal t� t�e budgeted amount. Tt ��ill ta�e appraximatel�-5 month for �h� new sysiem to becor�� operatiana7 af-�er aularding bid, so we are very desi- rous o-F tiaving" this achieved prior �o tne hot weather o�' midsummer. Recommended act-ion: Approval o-F tfie specifications for the construction of the r�ew water cantrol system and autharization for the fir�rn of 8anister, 5har�, E1]io�t, Hendrickson and Associates to proceed v�rith the detail plans. Authori- zati,on -is also granted to receive bids for ihis improve- meni on February 14, 1975 at 1I:00 A.P�., at the office of the Roseville �ngi�neer.
